Masquerade Birthday Party Ideas

A masquerade is a phenomenal and breathtaking event in itself, so when using it as a birthday party theme, you know you’ll be throwing a soiree that your guests will be talking about for years after. A masquerade party is without a doubt the best way to put on a sassy, sophisticated, and simply magical event.

Masquerade Party Decorations

Decorations are everything with a masquerade themed birthday party, and you’ll want to stick with a bold palate of colors, including deep purples, reds, forest greens, and black. Sequins, sparkles, and feathers are also a definite staple for décor, along with sexy, dim lighting that really set the atmosphere. Of course, masks are the central theme of a masquerade birthday party, so hanging up elaborately detailed masks all over the party venue is a great idea. Posting up light up letters that showcase “MASQUERADE” ensure the guests feel as though they’ve just walked into a VIP event.

Large round lanterns filled with light will illuminate the space and tall, decorative candles on equally tall stands paired with red roses are a fabulous centerpiece for tables. Black tablecloths with gleaming white, damask-patterned tableware and glass goblets are an exquisite detail that the guests will enjoy tremendously.

Tie big, black satin bows on the chairs and table legs and create unique arrangements on the walls from oversized feathers. Chandeliers are a gorgeous addition that you should definitely bring into your event if you can, but if you can’t get your hands on a real one, opt for the wall decals. You can find beautiful chandelier wall decals in all colors that easily stick on the wall or glass and peel off without any mess or residue. This gives the event just one more flair of sophistication. Rhinestone vases and serving platters and doorways filled with sequin curtains are the final step in tying together the ultimate posh look.

Food is extra special for a masquerade themed birthday party, as you’ll want to add unique eats alongside the normal birthday fare. The birthday cake should be larger than life, and whether you go for a feather topper, or a masquerade mask topper, you should incorporate the birthday celebrator’s name on it.

Keep in coordination with the colors of the party when designing the cake and more than one tier for the cake is a popular idea for this theme. Each tier can be different shades with different images of a masquerade, like feathers, peacocks, glittering dots or bold stripes, masks, and classic patterns of damask or the fleur de lis. Cupcakes on high towers and gigantic cookies in the shapes of stilettos and corsets add a spark of the sensual, while red macaroons and apothecary jars full of pink cotton candy give a pop of elegance. Add a chocolate fountain with fresh fruit and voila! You have a dessert table that is beyond delectable. Make your guests feel lavish with savory hors d’oeuvres such as oysters on the half shell, boiled shrimp, vegetable pinwheels, and specially spiced popcorn.

Masquerade Party Favors

Party favors for a masquerade birthday party should be just as exquisite as the food and décor, so give your guests something they can remember. Masquerade mask bottle stoppers, wine glass charms, miniature personalized bottles of champagne, decorated tea light candle holders, embellished decorative candles, and rhinestone martini glasses are all great options for masquerade party favors. Individually wrapped specialty cookies, cake pops, and candies presented in fancy boxes or velvet bags are also a fantastic way to say thank you to your guests.

Masquerade Party Games

Party games for a masquerade birthday event are extremely interactive and can even pose as party favors as well. Have guests make their own masquerade masks to wear throughout the party and to take home with them. Use icebreaker games to keep the guests mingling, such as Guess Who’s Behind the Masquerade Mask, Masquerade Mad Libs, a scavenger hunt, or even a mystery murder game. Another must have for your masquerade birthday party is a photo booth! Guests will want to have plenty of photo opportunities to document the lovely and vibrant party, so ensure that there is a space set aside for your guests to pose for plenty of pictures.

Dinosaur Jungle Birthday Party

Celebrating a 2nd birthday party is a fun and cheerful occasion, and event stylist Miss Deliciouza put on a momentous one for little Tarjan with a fantastical theme of Dino/Jungle. No details were spared in this party fit for a little dinosaur fan and the venue truly looked as though you stepped into prehistoric times. Decorations were bright and creative, with splashes of oranges and greens, and accessories of dinosaurs, fossils, and monkeys. Even plants with thick leaves that you’d find in the jungle were placed around as awesome accents. Food tables were draped in safari-khaki colored tablecloths and the food was a feast for not only the tummy, but also for the eye.

The cake was round, one-tiered, and covered in incredible sugar fondant detail. Images of trees were molded around the base of the cake, while replicas of monkeys, and dinosaurs were molded on the top, sides, and all around it. A back drop and a framed sign were behind and in front of the amazing cake with the birthday boy’s name in big, wooden block letters. Huge glass apothecary jars were filled with chocolates and candies, while cocoa cake pops with green leaf bows were aplenty on shiny black serving platters. Orange and green frosted cupcakes sat on round wood pieces of tree and humongous candy bars wrapped in personalized dino party themed paper made for perfect favors. The presentation of these favors made them even more memorable, as the candy bars were placed on black plates with rock pebbles surrounding them for ultimate jungle effect. Clear plastic cups full of a gelatin dessert were labeled “Jelly Shots” and there were even plastic dinosaur eggs split open and spilling out more delicious candies.

This party was full of innovative ideas that transformed an otherwise routine birthday party into something unforgettable. With great attention to details, this event virtually came to life as a world filled with prehistoric fantasy and fun.

Decorations for a disco themed birthday party are meant to be full of lights, sounds, and silver. A disco ball is a must have as a decoration, so however you choose to incorporate it, you can’t go wrong. Glow in the dark dot stickers on the ceiling, lava lamps, black lights, and even a fog machine really set the stage for a great disco night, and the more light you have, the better. You won’t want to use normal, everyday lights, so it can get a little dim. Use the above mentioned lighting for not only an ambiance, but so the guests can see in front of them as well!

Peach Mint Circus Party

Event stylist Samantha Dunne of Dunne with Style put together an incredible birthday party that showcased a fun circus theme complete with a brilliant array of bright colors and inglorious décor. The theme of Peach Mint Circus truly embodied the charisma of a birthday and the circus all in one, while highlighting joyful nostalgia.

Peach Mint Circus party dessert table, birthday party, baby shower ideas

The main event theme colors of peach and mint offered a crisp feel to the party, while individual flowers made of puffed peach and mint tulle added a whimsical touch as they were placed all over the venue. The main event table that housed the birthday cake and all the most fabulous sweets was absolutely gorgeous with a wondrous backdrop of oversized white paper pinwheels, and an elaborate circus sign welcoming guests to join in on enjoying the circus theme. The birthday cake itself was breathtaking, with two large tiers served on a mint ceramic cake platter. The top tier was all-white, with a topper of a bunched assortment of the mint tulle flowers and a golden elephant figurine. The bottom tier of the cake was really something special, with an ombre design of dark peach fading up into light peach.

Surrounding the cake were magnificently detailed treats, including a miniature mint colored cake with more gold elephant figurines on top, and delightful peach-colored cupcakes presented on handcrafted peach paper pinwheels. A distressed wood mail holder added the perfect chic accent to hold sugar cookies, and peach and mint candies, along with glass milk jars with miniature windmill straws. An apothecary jar full of mint-hued cotton candy and striped boxes full of warm popcorn were clever circus-motif additions, while jars filled with large mustache cake pops brought a timeless look to the table.

The party was tied together splendidly with peach and mint shaded circus flag banners, tassel garland, and a whole shelving bureau opened and full of lines of glass jars full of bright candy.

From Samantha :

For Eloise’s 2nd birthday we wanted to take a fresh twist on a classic favourite so put a whimsical and pretty twist on the circus classic, because lets face it, when you have a 2 year old life is a bit like a circus.

Li-Ann from Ham & Pea Paperie took vintage circus animals and ‘prettied’ them up with the addition of frills and ruffles, we replaced the classic blue and red with the more feminine mint and peach and the tone was set.

Guests were greeted at the tickets booth adorned with vintage carnival tickets, ribbon wands and handmade pinwheels.

The dessert table had a carnival atmosphere with sweet treats including a pair of ombre ruffled cakes, cupcakes topped with mini macarons and cotton candy, chocolate coated oreos adorned with pinwheels. Custom designed sugar cookies to match the vintage circus animals from the backdrop and for the little gents, moustache cookies.

Guests filled up circus tent favour boxes with treats from the candy stand and went home laden with pinwheels, ribbon wands and hand painted gold circus animal figurines – over indulged just like a day at the carnival.

Casino Themed Birthday Party Ideas

A birthday party is only as memorable as its theme, and one of the best is an event done in casino style. This is a wildly popular and extremely fun theme, especially for the older crowd, and it’s one of the most interactive motifs you can choose. Between snazzy decorations, delectable food, and adventurous party games, putting together a casino themed birthday party can be one that your friends and loved ones talk about for a long time after.

The color palate for a casino themed birthday party involves bold colors of reds, blacks, and whites, and can also incorporate accent hues of glittery gold and silver. The decorations themselves are bright, elaborate, and the options for what you can do are creatively limitless! Basic, staple décor should be red and black balloons, streamers with designs of spades and clubs, and playing card garland that’s easy to make yourself. Big signs reading “Casino” can be placed at entryways, event tables, or just all around your party venue in general.

Card Suit All Over Print Latex Balloons Playing Card Mylar Balloon

Paper garland letters, golden balloon letters, or even DIY lighted letters are a great way to make these signs pop and to really illuminate the casino theme. Hang oversized, fuzzy dice from the ceiling, or utilize dice replica vases to house beautiful red flowers. Use casino themed backdrops with images of Las Vegas and gambling games to transform your space into what feels like a real casino. Utilize aesthetic accessories like tall candlesticks with a bouquet of feathers on top or framed printouts of mobsters and 1950’s celebrities like Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, and Frank Sinatra. Fill doorways with vertical, shiny circle garland that guests have to walk through for an ultimate snazzy feel, and don’t shy away from oversized, blingy, and bright décor.

The decorations are only the beginning of setting the tone for a casino themed birthday party, however. The most important aspect is the food. The birthday cake should be extravagant and mouth dropping, so going for multiple tiers can truly make it larger than life. A three-tiered cake with each layer being a square replica of a die, complete with an elaborate red and black feathered boa topper and sparklers. An octagon-shaped single layered cake that replicates a poker table with all the details formed in sugar fondant is also an amazing piece of art. Candies served in martini glasses and sugar cookies with frosting that mimics playing cards, dice, and poker chips compliment the birthday cake perfectly. Miniature roulette tables that hold chips, pretzels, nuts, and other party snacks adds an extra flair of fun. Miniature sparkling champagne bottles and liquor filled tiny chocolates are also a quaint treat to give guests.

What’s really great about a casino themed birthday party is that party games and favors can really go hand in hand. A casino is all about playing games and winning prizes, so why not set up gaming tables for your guests to play and win fantastic favors? Poker, roulette, and craps are just a few casino games that are easy to set up and easy to teach guests that don’t know how to play. Your party can last for hours and hours with your guests having a blast with these games, mingling, and winning party favors. Some good prizes are dice bottle stoppers, Vegas coasters, or playing card visor hats that mimic the ones worn by actual casino game dealers. And of course, you can’t forget the presentation of these prizes! Dice boxes, satin black bags, and a personalized flute filled with candy are all great ways to send your guests home feeling like ultimate winners.
